Products I regret buying!

Giving negative reviews is not my thing, though sometimes it's just inevitable!

As much as I love discovering new products, I hate it when something doesn't perform as it should! I've become quite prudent with my "beauty budget", so anything that falls short of expectations turns me off :(

Today's "suspects":

Needless to say, all three are going straight to the bin. Wasting money sucks!
Having said that, I hope this post will be helpful to those of you who are curious about those products: read on to see why I wouldn't recommend not one of 'em!

The Body Shop Seaweed Pore-Cleansing Facial Exfoliator: while I do love the Seaweed range from the Body Shop (especially the Seaweed day cream which I bought recently), unfortunately this face scrub doesn't cut it. Its exfoliating particles, although being of natural origin, are too big and too few to properly exfoliate the skin. It's so mild that I could use it both day and night as an everyday face wash- but frankly, I'd rather have a proper gel cleanser than an alleged "face scrub" to use daily.

Korres Equisetum 48h Deodorant Antiperspirant: I bought this product after deciding to try out a more skin-friendly deodorant. Well, let's just say that I'll stick to my normal, paraben-full and aluminum salts deodorants! This one is so unreliable; wear it on a heatwave and you're bound to stink within an hour! Maybe its weird smell has to do with its ineffectiveness, other than its formula? And if this wasn't enough, it's so freakin' expensive! 8€ for only 30ml is way too much money to spend on a deodorant, IMO.

Sorry Korres, you failed me with this one!

Elf Studio Matte Lip Colour, shade Natural: if I could count only one flaw of the Elf cosmetics, it would be this: they go bad pretty soon. I've had this retractable thingie for a year and it has now gone into an unusable state. What used to be a smooth lip pen with a natural matte shade has turned into a fake-looking, horribly dry lip colour. As a matter of fact, I'm seriously considering not to make any more purchases from Elf :(

So there, that's everything I currently regret buying! No more "natural" deodorants, face scrubs that don't work- and even more so, no Elf hauls for the time being...

Have you tried any of the aforementioned products?
Is there anything you regret buying, cosmetics-wise?

  4. When I don't like a product I try to "repurpose" it, meaning to find a new use for it. For example, face scrubs that are too coarse for my face I use them for my hands (they need some pampering too!)

  7. I'm really interested in the elf studio matte lip color, and I've heard great things about it. Does it go bad really that quickly?

    1. Well, it's perfectly alright when it's all new and fresh, but an "experienced" eye can tell its texture changing after a year or so. If you're not one of those girls who use up lip products in less than a year, I wouldn't suggest you to buy this Elf thingie. It all adds up in the end, you know- 4€ wasted here, €4 there... Save your cash and head on to Mac when they have sales!

    1. Τελικά έχουμε πολύ δρόμο ακόμα μέχρι να βγει ένα καλό αποσμητικό χωρίς "περίεργα" συστατικά :(

  9. I have had the same experience with ELF unfortunately, I just threw out some of their lipglosses that I had used about 1 year. At the same time I have some 2 year old lipglosses from NYX and they haven´t started smelling funny yet. I think that the expire dates on cosmetics are just guidelines and if it doesn´t smell weird or preform badly, I can still kepp them.

    1. That's exactly my point! I don't go by the expire dates on the labels of each product, however it's unacceptable for lipsticks and lipglosses to go bad after only a year!

  10. Have you tried a crystal deodorant? I recently bought one (around 7,5Euros for 100g), but I haven't used it yet, because I'm trying to use up some other deodorants (yep, I'm joining you in the 10pan project, although mine is bigger, it's like 20pan lol).

  11. P.S. : I hate exfoliators that are mild, so thanks for the warning! x

    1. My sister has tried a "crystal" deodorant (greek company, made in China- go figure...) and she wasn't impressed at all! It still remains in the bathroom cabinet almost unused and sis has now gone back to her usual roll-on! Way to go on the P20+pan girl, doesn't it feel so nice when you use up a product? hehe

    2. I just tried one from Sante (German brand, made in Germany), I will let you know how it goes! Oh yes, it feels amazing!! :D My cabinets and drawers are full of stuff, I want to get rid of most of them! x

  12. interesting that you should say that about the Korres deodorant. Ironically my boyfriend (who is 1.90cm and weighs 120kg) wears it to the gym! I quite like it too but it isnt THAT natural and innocent when it comes to the ingredients im afraid... only relatively.

    1. Whaaaaa?!? Well, maybe it performs differently on a man? I think this particular deo is supposed to be men-friendly, so that could be possible. I know what you mean about the ingredients, the most notable "absent" of the formula are the parabens; the aluminum salts are there!
