I hope you're in the mood for some lip balm talk, because I sure am ;)
All lip balm fanatics out there- this post is dedicated to you!
Korres lip butters will always have a special place in my heart. Having tried all thirteen options available, the following are the only ones I go back to, and have repurchased many times over the years.
Since I'm planning to use up every single lip balm in my collection (there's really no point in keeping 20 different lip balms on hand, is it?), I thought of making a post on why I favour these particular lip butters over the rest by Korres.
I prefer the lip butter sticks over those in the pot form for a bunch of reasons:
first and foremost, I'm able to use them while I'm out and about- which is almost impossible with the likes of Jasmine lip butter, I could never dip my fingers in the pot after I've been on public transport! Other than that, I love the embellished packaging of the stick lip butters, and the fact they have spf15 in them.
Let's see each shade one-by-one, lip swatches included:
* 'Xcuse my dry lips, clearly they're not at their best! :(
Korres Jasmine Lip Butter: this is the only one I'll be willing to use despite it being in a pot, purely because of its colour! Anything that lightens my pigmented lips in a flattering way gets a big thumbs up from me, and Jasmine lip butter falls under that category. In contrast, the Guava lip butter pot and the clear lip butter stick with spf15 give that hideous "white film" over the lips- nothing like the discreet, pale pinky shine that you see in the above pics. And yes, I mainly use Jasmine lip butter at home!
Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Stick SPF15 Pink: now that I see the photos of all the stick lip butters, I'm liking their finish so much more than Jasmine lip butter- their sheen looks healthier, I suppose? I mainly use this pink shade during winter, as it has cooler undertones that fit well for the season. Not that you can tell from these pics; it's so hard to capture the true colour of sheer lip products!
Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Stick SPF15 Peach: this is my go-to lip balm during summer, since it pairs so nicely with peachy blushes and bronzers. Hey, every detail counts! Along with the Pink version, they both look way more natural than the popular pinkish lip butters in the pot- namely Quince, Pomegranate and Mango. The latter have a glossier finish, which personally is not my fave as I don't do well with lipglosses in general. But I guess if you love a glossy pout, do check these out ;)
Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Stick SPF15 Purple: to be fair, I had a hard time deciding on whether I like the Purple or the Wild Rose shade (which has a prettier pattern on the cap!). After a lot of testing and swatching back and forth, I favoured the Purple stick since its closer to the lips' natural colour and could be worn with a "bare face"; the Wild Rose version needs a bit of makeup in order to pull it off nicely.
The lip swatches, all together. Hopefully you can see how the shades differ
from one to another
I should also point out that there's a couple of things about the Korres lip butters that I count as minor flaws: 1. they're not made in Greece (so don't think you're supporting the greek labour market by buying these...), and 2. although they're adequately moisturising, they're not the ones I reach for when I have chapped lips.
All in all, I highly recommend you to try these particular lip butters by Korres, if you haven't already! They're affordable, such a pleasure to use, plus their packaging is so unique- in short, you'll love them!

I LOVE the jasmine one, it's the only Korres lip butter I own but I definitely want more, the mango one is next on my list.
ReplyDeleteFor super chapped lips I highly recommend using the Blistex daily lip conditioner. I featured it in my lip balm post the other day and I done a post last year raving about it. It's fantastic for the colder weather and really works at getting rid of dry cracked lips. I love it and i've bought tons of them now!

I've heard so many great things about the Blistex lip balms, I think I need to make a little browsing on Ebay! Sadly we don't have any heavy duty lip balms over here, ordering online is the only way to go :(

The Jasmine one looks so intriguing! I had no idea Korres had such a huge variety when it comes to lip butters. Recently I am into TonyMoly lip products, especially the Petite Bunny series.
ReplyDeleteAww, I just had a look on the TonyMoly Petite Bunny lip balms, how cute!!!

That Purple Lip butter is a staple in my everyday makeup bag. Every single day.
ReplyDeleteYes it's true they are not actually made in Greece. That fancy factory in Athens is just where they store Korres products. They are actually made in Italy. I got a korres gift from US and it said "Made in Italy".
Shame.
I see the purple lip butter is really popular! I think this particular shade was awarded by a Swiss magazine or sth? It kinda sucks that they're made in Italy, but I guess the rest of Korres product are made in Greece, so that's something ;)

και απο τα sticks το rose. το pink σχεδον δεν φαινοταν σε μενα. καμια σχεση με την δικη σου φωτο.
ReplyDeleteμηπως εδω φτιαχνοται μονο οι κρεμες κτλπ. και το make up line στο εξωτερικο; ειχα δει κατι Posts απο fashion bloggers που ειχαν παει για ξεναγηση στο εργοστασιο του κορρε.
