This is by no means a new entry in my makeup bag,
though it's my most recent rave...
Meet Respectissime Ultra Doux, the latest mascara offering by La Roche-Posay. Granted, it's manufactured by a a brand that mostly specialises in skincare than makeup, but don't let that fact fool you: it's a mighty lil' guy that delivers flirty lashes!
Lemme first share my enthousiasm over the killer sleek black tube-
the packaging snob inside me couldn't be happier :)
Now, looks aside, its formula is of 94% natural ingredients, while offering maximum comfort and tolerance to sensitive eyes or contact lens wearers. That's the official description of this mascara and, to be frank, it ain't that enticing.
Give me unrealistic claims + model pics photoshopped to death, and I'm there!
[I shamefully admit it, that's what gets me every time...]
Even if you overlook the boring description, it's not gonna be a love at first sight.
What I mean by that statement is this: in order to show its true capacity, it's necessary to let the mascara dry out a bit- not "to the point of no return" (obviously), but you get the gist: just enough for it to become a little more dense than fluid, which would be about 3-4 weeks' time.
After that period of time has passed, get ready for some serious lashes!
See what I'm talking about in the photos below:
Xcuse the shiny forehead, I forgot to powder up- oops...
FYI, I applied only one coat of Respectissime and used no lash curlers whatsoever; yet you can tell that my lashes look quite curvy in the "after" pics. Or flirty, as I like to call them... It must have to do with the curved wand of the brush- oh, have I said it before?
I love curved mascara wands!!!
Personally, I put Respectissime high up there with the likes of Maybelline and Max Factor mascaras, which I value highly. It has become my go-to choice for the "bright lip look" that I'm sporting daily, which only consists of a bright lipstick, mascara and bronzer. For that purpose, the mascara I'm using has to perform at its best.
To sum it up, if you can bear the one-month wait in order for it to become semi-dry, Respectissime Ultra Doux is a lovely mascara that's worth looking into- especially if you have sensitive eyes. And the packaging is a killer. Yeah.
Now, tell me: have you decided on your HG mascara, or you're still on the hunt?
Would you buy makeup products like mascara or foundation by a skincare brand?
* Product was sent by La Roche-Posay for review purposes. Sharing my dead-honest opinions, as always: it couldn't be any other way. *

This sounds promising. I'm on a hunt for a curling mascara, since my stubborn eyelashes simply refuse to stay curled. I've been checking a few Asian mascaras which are supposedly the best for holding curl, but out of mascaras that are on our market, I love Helena Rubinstein Feline Blacks waterproof the most and Maybelline's Volumin' Express the Collosal waterproof from drugstore :)
ReplyDeleteOh I have that Maybelline mascara in the "smokey" version and I love it! I haven't tried any HR mascaras yet, though their packaging is just lush. You could try a mascara with a curved wand like this one by LRP, maybe it helps the lashes to hold the curl better ;)

hmmm...so interesting! i thought that drugstore mascaras give only a natural look and nothing more.
ReplyDeleteHehe, I think there's a lotta good things to discover in drugstore mascaras after all!
