October '12 favourites.

Whoosh...
There goes October. One month closer to Christmas. Eeeek!

Judging from last month's favourites, my love for makeup has been officially revived; I've reached the point where BB cream+blush was simply not enough! Hence, the following good lot of makeup products. There's also a couple of hair treatments thrown in the mix, to go with my new ombre hair!

*** Don't ask: it was a fine experience overall-
still, the final outcome came out so natural that it barely looks any different =( ***

Alright, let's start with the makeup!

My lipstick of choice was the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick in Boy (click for review), its rosy colour is so appropriate for autumn days! But the ultimate stand-out was the new Maybelline Fit Me concealer*. Good coverage without being cakey, blends easily under the eyes and covers dark circles thanks to its slight orange undertones. I'm filing this under "products I would repurchase"!

I've also had a good use of the Mac Lingering brow pencil and I'm loving it to bits; brilliant waxy texture that helps to hold brow hairs into place! For my eyeshadows, I mostly used these few matte shades from the Body Shop in Vanilla Cream, Pink and Granite (click for review). Shimmer on the lids during dark and cloudy days can sometimes look a bit "off"! I'd much rather give some life to my face with a bright lip instead.

Which brings me to my quick fix...

H&M nail polish, Elf Shy blush, Erre Due Luxury pencil, Biotherm jumbo lip pen

If you're familiar with Youtube beauty gurus, then Lisa Eldridge's channel won't be any news to you. I don't know about you, but I've never actually sat and recreated any of her looks, let alone the ones by other gurus. That all changed after I watched again her K.I.S.S. makeup tutorial and felt compelled to do it myself! That was partly the reason I bought the Erre Due navy liner anyway...

Upon first glance, it seems that a cherry lip with a navy eyeliner and a baby pink blush won't be quite a match, but believe me- the end result looks so posh and Parisian-chic, with the least amount of effort! Do give it a go yourselves ;)

As for my hair, now that they've gone ombred I've become obsessed not to let the bleached ends get dry, so I've gone back to the Kerastase Elixir Ultime*. This bottle keeps giving and giving- and the smell! It's one of those products that smell expensive (I hope I'm making sense here!). Lastly, I've been trying out the new Garnier haircare range for dry hair which left me impressed for the most part, especially the Instant nourishing treatment* pictured above. FYI, all products are free of parabens. Let's hope Garnier converts all their products into paraben-free!

That's everything I enjoyed using the most during past month! Other than that, the P10Pan is still going strong; surprisingly, it's not the nail polishes that are hard to use up, but the Kiehl's lip balms! Is it value-for-money or a pain in the butt, I wonder...

What about you: what have you been loving during October?
Do you replicate any of the makeup looks you see on Youtube?

Products marked with * are pr samples. I love them, and I wanted to share my experience with them. These are my honest opinions; it couldn't be any other way!

  7. You are ombre?! Bet it looks stunning on you!!!

Ok, ok, I guess I've missed a few blogging episodes, but I'm determined to catch up on everything this week, even if it kills me. Meaning I'll need tons of concealer, hehehe!!!

I have a few YT vids in mind that I want to recreate, but I never get round to it and the safe neutral eye wins everytime..! I'm bad!!!

    1. Yeah, I'm supposedly "ombred" now- not that it's obvious, but ya know... Better luck next time at the hair salon! :(
