August '12 favourites.

Wowza! That's the 250th blog post on Lipstick Wardrobe, woohoo!!!
Allow me to do a happy dance in the style of Chandler Bing :D

Right, onto the subject: as I'm currently sick of my HUGE makeup collection that has gotten out of hand (post to follow), last month I switched my focus to skincare products- and jewelry. 'Twas about time I started wearing the bargains I got during the sales!

So, grab yourselves a cuppa tea (or an ice-cold frappe, if you like) and enjoy!

To be frank, I'm not entirely satisfied with each and every product in my skincare routine. Habit won over prudent and considerate buying, so I've ended up with some bits that although nice, they didn't quite cut it for my current skin concerns. But, enough with the nagging; let me give praise to a few products that have stood out from the rest:

The Body Shop Honey&Oat 3-in-1 scrub mask: errr, more like a moisturising mask, actually! As you can see, the oatmeal comes in fairly big chunks, which means you can't rely on their exfoliating capacity to scrub your face. However, it feels so soothing on the skin as a mask treatment and leaves it soft and supple. Texture and effectiveness aside, oh my gosh it smells divine! This mask is a cult product from the days of Annita Roddick that lives up to its hype.

The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying day cream: This has got to be the BEST moisturiser I've ever tried from the brand! Not only does it leave skin matte without compromising in moisture, not only is smells lovely and fresh, it also performs as a primer by smoothing down tiny bumps and pores on the skin, all in a non-clogging way. Brilliant!!!

My advice: even if your skin is really oily, skip the Tea Tree range altogether and head on to Seaweed- if you want to give the Body Shop skincare a go. Most Tea Tree products (if not all) can be drying, thus promoting the skin to increase its oil production.

Bioten Skin Moisture Cleansing wipes*: for a lack of a better expression, I freakin' love these! I've tried a couple of makeup wipes in the past, though they all felt a bit abrasive on my skin- nothing like the soft, quilted-like fabric of the Bioten wipes! They seem to stay moist for longer and do a pretty good job at removing makeup. In the few cases I was that close! to sleep with my makeup on, these were my skin saviours.

Onto the jewelry I've worn the most during August:

I'm now a proud owner of a neck cuff. Hopefully, it will give a hipster-ish touch to my bland outfits, yay! Please don't tell me it's been worn to death already, I moved heaven and earth to locate a neck cuff during the summer sales! As for the pineapple necklace in the middle, it was too cute to pass by. And this is coming from a gal that has come to loathe long charm necklaces! Both by good ol' faithful H&M.

Last but not least, if you fancy some more beauty talk (pun shamelessly intended!), here are my favourite articles that we published last month on our new website:

Modern takes of the classic Citrus cologne,
Bizarre skincare ingredients (dragon's blood, anyone?),
Get Pink's makeup look, and
The best Aquatic nail colours

Ok, maybe the products in this post aren't the most exciting to talk about, nevertheless they're for keeps! Also, do let me know if there's any affordable makeup wipes that are worth looking into ;)

To my new followers: hi!!! *waves*
Come on and introduce yourselves!

*The Bioten makeup wipes were sent to me for free and I'm loving them, therefore I'm featuring them on my blog, my views are genuine and honest, yada, yada, yada- you know how I roll!

    1. Isn't this Seaweed moisturiser THE BOMB? I'm very much impressed by it! And the wipes are pretty amazing, I have to agree ;) The face mask is so lovely- only problem is that you have to be committed to 100ml of product...
