12 for 2012: LIPSTICK WARDROBE's favourites!

It's probably late to blog about last year's favourite products, my apologies!
Twas so hard to narrow them down to just 12- hence the delay...

2012 was pretty hectic, and I'm glad it's finally over. Despite all that, one of past year's positive aspects was that I managed to discover some great beauty products which have already gained a "staple" value in my collection. Here they are!

Surprisingly, 9 out of 12 are makeup related-
gee, someone needs to experiment more with skincare, body and hair stuff!

Citrus colognes will always have a special place in my heart. I've now come to use one every single time after the shower for a quick pick-me-up; 4711 cologne has been my favourite. Since its scent dissipates within 20 minutes, it means I'm the only one who can enjoy it while people around me don't notice I smell like a 80-year-old grandma! lol

I've also discovered one of the very best city sunscreens in the market, the -wait for it- Clarins UV Plus HP Day Screen High Protection. Brilliant for oily skin, non-greasy, and packed with antioxidants. If only it was a bit cheaper... The Body Shop Vineyard Peach body butter* is one of my recent addictions. There, I sait it! Seriously, I'll cry when TBS decides to discontinue the Vineyard Peach range, it smells exactly like the real thing!

Now for the makeup bits! Maybelline Fit Me foundation and concealer* were the absolute winners of 2012 and I'll definitely repurchase both. The foundation's finish is fresh and dewy, and the concealer has that peach undertone that suits my complexion to a T. The brush that I apply my foundation with is the Art Deco duo fibre brush; I've had it for more than 3 years now and it looks as good as new, so it deserves its place in this list ;)

As for the blush in the photo above, it's none other than The Body Shop blush in Toast, a versatile matte peach/tan colour that can be paired with any lipstick/eyeshadow combo. But whad'ya know, it's been discontinued! *sob sob*

For my eye makeup, I skipped wearing eyeshadow for the most part during 2012. Favourite eye pencil is by far the Erre Due Luxury pencil, it's practically cream eyeliner in a pencil form! My brows look fuller and well-groomed with Mac Eye Brows; Lingering may be too light (Spiked is probably my shade), but still its formula is fantastic!

As for mascara, ever since I tried the Max Factor False Lash Effect 24h*, I've been hooked on its big fat brush and the amazing volume and length it gives to my lashes. I'll never, ever go back to the Body Shop mascaras, I've tried them all in the past and noone could compare to False Lash Effect.

There's got to be a couple of lipsticks thrown in the mix ;)
The first one has to be Mac Russian Red, it's the most beautiful red lipstick I own so far! No nude lippies I'm afraid, as last year I switched my interest over bolder shades; the Dior Diorling lipstick in Marilyn is one of my most recent purchases but it had to be included in this post as I'm loving it to bits!

That's everything that captured my interest the most during past year! I hope you found some products worth checking out; if you've tried any of these before, let me know how you got on with'em ;)

Feel free to share your favourites in the comments below, I'd love to read them!

*** Products marked with * were pr samples. Sharing my honest opinions, as always. ***

  1. Great post! I love reading your favourites :)
I also love the Body Shop's Vineyard Peach. It is the most amazing peach scent ever! I want to get the entire line, but I'll have to order it on eBay since there is no TBS in Slovenia.
So many people are raving about Fit me. I have to try it, but I can't find the lightest shade on eBay.
Ps. Im wearing Russian Red today. It's gorgeous. I also adore Ruby Woo.

    1. Aww, thank you! If you want to get the full Vineyard Peach range, make sure to check photos and reviews of the body scrub; I've seen it in the store and it feels fairly gentle on the skin ;)

I think you'll love Fit Me foundation, the concealer is pretty awesome too! Happy to hear that you enjoy wearing Russian Red, hun!

  2. Interesting choices. Is that brush from Art Deco that useful? I have a similar one from Mac and never understood how it works

    1. I've seen the Mac 168 brush- it has a bit more "give" to it than the Art Deco duo fibre brush. Have you tried it with liquid foundation?

  3. I have smashed one bottle of 4711 when I was just a little girl. It was very fashionable back then in the early 80's, we were with my mom at a friendly house and there...I smashed it.The whole place smelled lie 1 million lemons where in there, can you imagine? Still, a lovely lovely perfume and you're right, its smell disappears after just a few minutes. Have you tried M.A.C. Red? It's my favorite Mac red lipstick, check it out. Have the best of 2013 :)

    1. Oh, I didn't know 4711 was popular in the '80s, that's interesting! Ouch, I hope your friend didn't mind the strong lemon scent all over her home! Thx for the Mac lipstick recommendation, I'll check it out!

  4. Better late than never!Μου άρεσουν πολύ αυτά τα ποστ γιατί δείχνουν αυτά που πραγματικά ξεχωρισαμε!Άσε που εμένα προσωπικά με έκανε να καταλάβω ότι από όλη τη σαβούρα που έχω μαζέψει χρησιμοποιώ μονάχα ένα μικρό μέρος!Πάντως και εγώ δεν έβαλα καθόλου nude lipstick πέρυσι, αν και ποτέ δεν υπήρξα οπαδός! :)
