Requested review: SYOSS dry shampoo

As so many of you asked me about the dry shampoo I featured on my latest haul,
I thought of uploading a little review for you ;)

Using dry shampoo as a quick fix instead of washing your hair is no news, though it's new to me. Judging from the poor variety of dry shampoos in our stores, you can tell it's a type of product that hasn't fully bloomed as it has in the UK; seeing no better alternatives (i.e. Batiste or Tresemme), I settled to Syoss.

I must confess that I was sooo excited to start using a dry shampoo on my hair, since everyone on Youtube and blogs kept raving about it. However, after 2 months of use, my feelings are mixed.

You see, I initially thought that I could finally! be able to slacken up on the frequency
I wash my hair (it's so time-consuming and I hate it), but no. I imagined it would give me some colossal volume at the roots- again, not the case. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a nice little helper when you have to rush out the door but don't have time to do the whole shampooing-detangling-drying-styling shebang. It does freshen up the hair and gives the roots a bit of lift, but nothing too spectacular as I expected.
It sure can't beat freshly washed hair!

Also, the way to apply it can be a bit tricky; spray it the wrong way and you'll end up with white powder all over you hair. I guess blondes are luckier with dry shampoos! Now, I haven't mastered the following technique, but I'm sharing it with you anyway:

You have to shake the bottle before every spritz, lift a small section of hair and spray the dry shampoo in the part of the roots that is under the hair you've grabbed. Hopefully, the white powdery bits won't be visible that way. After you've sprayed all of the roots in the same pattern, you massage the scalp lightly so that the powder can be distributed throughout the hair and soak up the oiliness.

     list of ingredients

To conclude, I would rely on the Syoss dry shampoo for an impromptu coffee with the girls or a round of beers- but if I was to go on a meeting where it's expected to look your best, I would put away the shower cap and wash that hair. For impressive volume at the roots, look for a backcombing spray instead ;)

Have you tried dry shampoo before?
If so, please leave your recommendations in the comments below!

    1. Agreed! But you know, I'm pretty sure that if we had Batiste over here, I'd have a much better experience with dry shampoos :(

  2. I absolutely love the blue/volume version of Syoss dry shampoo, however, I use it to give my hair some volume and freshness since my hair doesn't really ever get greasy (it is mega dry). Oddly I never get that white powdery look, but I do spray it quite far away from the hair, nor do I ever feel the need to comb it out. Maybe it just really suits my hair type, but I've never had the green version to compare.

    1. Oh shoot, we don't have the Syoos dry shampoo with the blue lettering over here! I'll try and spray mine a little further from the hair than I'm used to, fingers crossed the white bits will be minimised!

    1. Hey girl!

Nope, I've only had it for the last couple of months. You mean that dry shampoos caused you dandruff? That's awful!

Δίνει λίγο την αίσθηση της λακ στις ρίζες των μαλλιών αλλά "it gets the job done" !!!

  7. I haven't try a dry shampoo yet,and everything I picked from Syoss didn't work with my hair,so I'm a bit afraid to try this one out. And really I need one of these in my life since I don't have the courage to wash it every day...
Until I get one, baking soda lol...
    Thanks for the review honey!

    1. Oh, I haven't tried using plain baking soda! I'll give it a go ;) I'm actually liking the Syoss shampoo for fine hair, but I don't have any experience with the rest of the Syoss products. Hopefully this dry shampoo works for you, hun!

    1. Αχά, θέλω να δοκιμάσω κι αυτό της Klorane που λες! Όχι ρε συ, καθόλου αναίσθητη! Τι λες τώρα, κι αν περνούσε κανάς ωραίος γιατρός από εκεί, να μην ήσουν περιποιημένη; [Παίρνω πάντα σημειώσεις από τα επεισόδια της Nanny Fine, lol]

      Για τις πούδρες που λες, δε μου έρχεται καμία στο μυαλό! Λες να είναι καλύτερες από το σπρέι; Και πώς τις βάζεις στα μαλλιά, με κάτι τύπου σαν κόσκινο;
